I recently installed the office 2003 update. Now when I open a new excel spreadsheet all the cells are set to text. I have checked style and it says the cells are general. I have highlighted the entire worksheet and reformatted the cells back to general and saved it as the template. However when I open a new workbook in excel all the cells are still set to text. If I search the excel template files and open it from explorer it is set to general but not when I open excel.
