Excel 2003 VBA help problem

I recently changed from XP to Win 7 (clean install) and reinstalled Excel
2003.

When using the VBA editor, if I type a search term into the search box, I
get a list of search results as expected. Clicking on many of the items in
the list causes the expected result (display of help on the topic).

However, clicking on many any item with "(Visual Basic for Applications)"
gives no result at all. NOTHING happens when I click (other than my
expenditure of a few micro-calories).

How can I fix this?

Thanks!!!!

Can you post a search criteria that demonstrates returning "(Visual
Basic for Applications)"? (Assuming you mean the search box in the
Object Browser)

I mean the search box in the VB Editor. For example type "Open" (without
the quotes) into the search box and you get, among manu others,
Open Event
Open Method
OpenTextFile Method (Visual Basic for Applications)

Clicking on the 1st two give expected results, Clicking on the 3rd one
gives nothing at all.

It might be related to the fact that Windows 7 lacks a certain help-
file executable that Windows XP had:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607

Perhaps Excel 2003 had a mixed-help system where the over-all help
wasn't a .hlp file but that called up .hlp files for many topics and
that Excel 2003 error-trapping prevents you from seeing the error
message that the above article mentions. Sooner or later you are
probably going to run into the Windows-XP help-file in Windows 7
problem so it is probably a good idea to get the above patch from
Microsoft (I upgraded from Windows-XP to Windows 7 at the same time as
when I upgraded from Excel 2003 to Excel 2010 so didn't run into this
problem withc Excel but had a similar problem with a computer algebra
system called Derive).

If this isn't the problem then perhaps some VBA help-file for VBA
didn't install automatically when you you reinstalled Excel. Perhaps
you could reinstall it with some sort of "Install Everything" or
"Custom Install" option checked.

If neither of these - I have no idea!
