Hi Lori,
The word "random" kind of distracted me.
There is a specification limit of 30 arguments in a function
=SUM(1000, 1000, 1000, ...
You will find the following in HELP under "specification"
Arguments in a function 30
And you might get the following error:
You've entered too many arguments for the function.
To get help with entering arguments for the function, click OK to
close this message. Then, on the formula bar, click the equal sign
button (located to the left of the equal sign in your formula).
-----
If you did not use a Function, you would be limited to 1024 bytes
by this specification limit
Length of formula contents 1,024 characters
And you might get the following error:
The text string you entered is too long. Reduce the number
of characters used or cancel the entry.
Failure point:
length of entire formula including = was 1025 [205 * 5]
=1000+1000+1000+...
I received the above errors, and I expect that if you
fed the error message into Google Groups search
that you would have come up with the answer. If not
it certainly should in about 12 hours of this reply.
