Excel 2003

I am trying to open delimited data in Excel. When I do, my part numbers (in
this case, some with a dash) turn into dates. Is there a default I can turn
off or something? I need to keep them in the exact format so my vlookup that
I run recognizes them and can match them up. Ideas?

Maybe you could rename the file so it has a TXT extension, and then use File
| Open to load the file into Excel, in which case the Text Import Wizard
should start, where you can explicitly choose how each field should be
interpreted.

Or, instead of posting in this Macintosh newsgroup
(microsoft.public.mac.office.excel), since Excel 2003 is a Windows version
of Excel, try posting in microsoft.public.excel or
microsoft.public.excel.misc.

Have you tried using Data> Get External Data> Import Text File (wording may
be a bit different in 2003) rather than trying to *open* the file?
