Excel 2004 Changes Date Modified

R

Rob

I have a new iMac 10.5.2 Leopard, running Office 2004, Excel 11.3.7.

Even if I simply open an Excel file, make no changes, then close it,
Excel changes the Date Modified to today's date.

This does not happen in Word 11.3.8.

Has anyone else had this problem? A search of "Date Modified" on the
site got no comparable issues.

I do not know what settings may be wrong or how to correct this.

Rob,

If calculations are set to Auto, and recalculate before Save is checked in
the options, the recalculation will "dirty" the workbook and therefore mark
it as having been changed.
