Excel 2004 crash on printing

I've been using Office 2004 without any serious difficulty since moving first to an Intel Mac Pro and then to OS X 10.5 Leopard, but just a few days ago it stopped allowing me to print. I think this was just after installing the Office 2004 11.4.1 update. I had recently updated the drivers for both my networked printers (Epson AL-CX11NF, Brother HL-5250DN), but I don't think this can be the source of the problem, because the crash occurs before I have the chance to select a printer or preset in the Print dialog. Is there anything else I can try?

It's just occurred to me that another strange behavior began about the same time: from time to time Excel stops accepting keyboard input. E.g., I type cmd-S to save or cmd-H to hide, but nothing happens; then I select Save from the File menu, which works, and cmd-H will now hide the application as usual. Also, cells in one particular column in the spreadsheet I use most frequently won't accept typing unless I click in the cell manually. Could all these be related?

Hallo Jeff
I had a major printing problem after upgrading to 12.0.1, in Leopard,
printing to a Xerox Phaser 8560 printer. A crash on very print request.
Previously everything was running fine.

After trying various remedies, I decided to delete the preferences file.
While doing a search for this file I discovered that I had a test-run version
of Office 2004 on my Mac. I decided to run the uninstaller to delete this
package. After I doing this, printing works fine again. (So far.)

I've had numerous other problems with the Office 2008 package and lost many
hours fixing them. Mostly they have been little things with simple solutions.
I am endebted to the the many people who make the effort of posting to forums
such as this one. Cheers!

Hope this helps you or somone else.

HC.
