Excel 2004 Macro security

Does anyone know how to change the security level of macros in Excel
2004? I found you could do it in 2003, but it looks like it no longer
exists....how can this be with all the protected spreadsheets that
people need to use to perform their jobs? HELP!

Hi,

The default setting is equivalent to "medium." You can change it to the
equivalent of "low" but I recommend against doing that.

There is no equivalent to "high" because digitally signed code macros
are not supported in Mac Office. Digitally signed Excel workbooks won't
open.

Thx. Is turning it to low the same as unlocking the password? Or can
you turn it to low like you can on a PC? MSNmac support told me today
that I could not.

AFAIK the only control is Excel>Preferences>Security, checkbox to 'warn
before opening files containing macros' (or similar wording). There is no
listing for Security settings in Tools>Macros such as there is in PC Excel.

If I'm missing something I sure hope someone will let me know where any
other setting might be.

I'm afraid I'm still unclear on exactly what it is that you *do* need.

Your first post refers to Macro security & protected sheets, but the 2 have
nothing to do with each other. Then in your second post you refer to
"unlocking the password", which, again, has nothing to do with macro
security.

Can you be more specific about what it is that you are trying to accomplish?
