Excel 2004 - Need Help Connecting FileMaker and Excel

Hi,

OK, since Filemaker 8 databases cannot be connected directly with Excel, how
in God¹s name do I connect them?? I downloaded the iODBC driver, the
FileMaker driver (from www.filemaker.com/odbc), but I keep getting an error
when Microsoft Query runs. I¹m at a total loss here...can anyone help me??

Here's a summary of what you need to access FileMaker 8 data from Excel
on OS X:

1. Download the FileMaker 7 ODBC/JDBC update (Mac) from the FileMaker
website:

http://www.filemaker.com/odbc

2. Copy the SeqeLink.bundle from the ODBC Client Driver folder to the
following folder:

/Library/ODBC

3. Use the ODBC Administrator (in Applications/Utilities) to add the
driver. You'll need to manually enter the path to the driver, since
the ODBC Administrator won't allow you to browse inside a bundle.
Specify "FileMaker" for the driver name, and the following path for the
Driver file name:

/Library/ODBC/SequeLink.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ivslk18.dylib

You'll need to manually enter the DSN parameter values, since the
driver doesn't include a DSN setup assistant:
Host (IP address of the server)
Port 2399
ServerDataSource (name of FMP database without the extension)
LoginID (optional)
Password (optional)

4. In order to use the driver from Excel / Query, you'll need the
iODBC frameworks. These are available from www.iodbc.org.

Hi Jonathan,

I thought I followed these directions, but Microsoft Query keeps returning
the error ³Could not load the driver or translator setup library². I think
it has to do with how I added the FileMaker driver.

When I click on ³Add Driver² from the iODBC Administrator, I can¹t navigate
to the SequeLink.bundle file (it¹s located in /Library/ODBC). So I entered
the file from the bundle manually.

The iODBC Administrator still reports that it was ³unable to load the driver
or translator setup library².

Any other thoughts?
