Every other day or so, the Recently Used File List in Excel 2004 becomes
empty. This problem does not seem to occur in Word 2004.

I've tried trashing the Excel preferences (com.microsoft.Excel.prefs.plist &
com.microsoft.Excel.plist), but that hasn't solved the problem.

Has anyone else encountered this behavior in Excel 2004? What's the
solution?

Hmmm... I haven't encountered this, though it's been reported once
before in this group.

If you're trashing your com.microsoft.Excel.prefs.plist, your MRU list
will be trashed, as that's where it's stored.

Are any other preferences being changed?

My suggestion to the previous poster was to repair disk permissions and
go through the standard troubleshooting procedures here:

http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/office/troubleshooting.html

http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/excel/troubleshooting.html

(those pages still refer to v.X, but for the most part they apply to
2004 as well).

Unfortunately, the poster never replied to let us know whether it worked.

Both of these pages referred to deleted Excel Settings (10), which, of
course was for Excel v.X. I found no Excel Settings (11) (nor any for Word
2004 either), but I did find Microsoft Office Settings (11). Trashing that
seems to have solved the problem.

I humbly apologize for not replying in a timely fashion. Thank you very much
for the help.
