Excel 2004 tries to open every file in the documents folder

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC

When I launch Excel, from the dock, or by double clicking excel document in a email, Excel tries to open every file in my documents folder. It tries to open everything (txt bin, pdf, jpeg, doc, and so on). This only started after I upgraded to Leopard.

Help please.
