I am having problems saving a Excel spreadsheet to a V2 Sharepoint Shared
document library. I open the spreadsheet via the SharePoint site, Click down
arrow adjacent to document name and click "Edit in Microsoft Excel" . The
document opens in Excel but when I save the document I get "Document not
saved" dialog.
This same document opens and saves fine under Excel 2003 from the same
Sharepoint site.
Questions
* Do I need to have WEBDAV enabled on the SharePoint web site? I never
needed it with Excel 2003.
* Any tips on determining reason why save failed? I've checked SharePoint
event log and don't see any errors.
I question the need for WEBDAV as I tried a save as
"http://mysharepointsite/mylibrary/mydoc.xls" and it gave me an error about
WEBDAV. I suspect Excel 2007 may be locking files via WEBDAV, unlike Excel
2003.
I have also seen Excel 2007 open the document read/only. However that seems
to not happen if I open document from SharePoint site with the "Edit in
Microsft Excel" link.
This is under Vista.
