excel 2007 classic interface?

Bob

Hi,
I have recently installed excel 2007. I am quite accustomed to and
expert at using older versions of excel. Is there a way that I can
set 2007 to have a more similar dialog structure to older versions, in
the way that I can set the control panel to classic view?

Thanks,
Bob

No, they were not thoughtless, in fact they were very thoughtful. They were
changing the usage paradigm, and thorough research suggested to them that
the old style menus and toolbars were not easy for new users to use, were
becoming very cluttered and inefficient. They came up with a new model, the
ribbon, which their research suggested was inefficient, was easier to use,
and generally more productive. They also knew that if they also provided a
classic fall-back, they might just as well as not have built the ribbon, as
no-one would take the time to adapt to the new.

You may not agree with their conclusions or their solution, but you cannot
accuse MS of being thoughtless.

I love it.

At the Launch events they were saying that for each dollar MS makes
off of Office+Exchange 2k7 and Vista, there are many more ($14 maybe?
I forgot) to be made by partners and resellers. Well, these are some
of those dollars, from folks who don't take the time to learn the
ribbon.

FWIW, you can still use all your old keyboard shortcuts from Excel
2003, in 2007.

I absolutely hate it. I am a power user on previous versions of Excel
and now, every process that used to take only one step now takes two,
three or four. Use to go right to the toolbar and icon I needed. (My
toolbars were heavily customized.). Now have to go to the correct
menu, then the right box, then the dropdown box, look for the tool and
finally select it. Takes way too much thought in the process. I
tried Toobar Toggle, but I just don't love it. Icons are fuzzy for
some reason. Some customized tool buttons still not available. Can't
wait for MS to do something about this multistep process that has made
me so much less efficient when building and working with
spreadsheets.
