Recently saw a demo of using Excel 2007 linked to a "Cube" of
data.
A "Cube" seems tb some sort of functional analog of a database
that a non-DB person can slice and dice more readily than a
collection of tables.
Excel seemed to have a pretty impressive set of tools for this.
First thing that came to my mind was Bloomberg. We're paying
big bucks for Bloomberg terminals all over the place where I
work. Given that the money's there, seems like BB could market
the same data via "Cubes" and users could get to it and
manipulate it easier and faster than with Bloomberg API calls in
a regular spreadsheet.
Anybody heard any rumors/rumblings from that direction?
