Excel 2007 cursor placement

I have recently installed Office 2007 and I am beyond frustrated.
have had major problems with my mouse (scroll wheel left/right no
working; cursor jumping in Word) and not to mention the default fon
which I can't seem to change in already created text boxes (I creat
files based on a template that was created using Excel 2003 and I hav
no ability to change this.)

So here's my new problem: cursor placement in text boxes.

For example, if I spelled a word incorrectly.

And wanted to change the 'd' to a 't', then I would normally place m
cursor after the 'd' and hit the backspace button. This actually isn'
an option. The cursor can either be placed before the 'd' or after th
'i', not in between the two. If I place it before the 'd', it delete
the 'a' (makes sense.) BUT, if I place it after the 'i', it will delet
the 'd'. So here's the thing, there seems to be 2 cursor space
between the 'i' and the 'o'. If it is at the first cursor place closes
to the 'i', then it deletes the 'd'. If placed at the 2nd cursor plac
close to the 'i', then it deletes the 'i'.

It almost seems to be an issue with only certain letters (lower case t
upper & lower case i). What is going on???
