Excel 2007 F5, Special Cells

Hi,

Just started using 2007. Ran into something i did not expect. F5, Go To
Special, Visable Cells Only. I can do that, but if I COPY the range with
Hidden Cells included, when I paste, it pastes what was hidden to.

Will this feature stay this way? I do not think it was that way in 2003 and
was indeed a useful feature.

I saw this response in a different forum:

The key here is that if you select just the table (or cells in the same rows
as the table) to copy, then you will get the filtered data.

If you select the filtered cells, plus data outside the table (the row
above/below/both) then you will get the entire list (unfiltered).

You can tell what you are going to get by looking at the "running ants"
selection after pressing Ctrl+C. If you see only one area with the running
ants around the outer perimeter, you are going to get the whole table. If
you see several 'mini-selections' inside a larger bold border, then you will
get the filtered data.

But your extra step of limiting the selection to the visible cells, then copying
that is a sure-fire way to make it work.

Hi,

I do not access to 2007 until Monday, when I will try it again. The
experience I had today was that I was unable to get just the visible cells to
copy and paste and tried it several times, which is not the experience I get
when I use 2003. I have done it many, many times in 2003, but to day was the
first time I tried it in 2007.

I had used F5 and not a "Menu" Icon to get to the "Visible Cells" as I was
having a hard time finding GoTo Special via the Icons. Are you certain that
the response you quoted was in regard to 2007? It is a good description of
the experience in 2003.

Yep. It was for xl2007.
