Excel 2007 macro assigned to button

I have been using a button that I placed on a worksheet months ago that I use
to run a macro which generates graphs from data and places them into the
workbook. I then move the graph sheets to another workbook and rename the
workbook. Suddenly today every time I try to run the macro after moving the
worksheets to another book the buttons macro assignment changes to the newly
created workbook and the name of the macro I have been using. And of course
there is no macros in this workbook so it does not run. I have rebooted,
assigned the macro correctly and saved the worksheet and it still changes the
buttons assignment. What in the world is going on here? This workbook that
the button is in was made in Excel2000 and then resaved in 2007 months ago.
It appears to run in 'compatability mode'. Why is it suddenly doing this
after 6 months of working perfectly? And how can I stop it?

Hi Betsy,

I was a bit confused by this. First you say you run the macro to create the
graphs, and then you move the charts to another sheet. But then you say you
move the graphs first and then try running the macro. Which is the correct
sequence?
Has it ever worked properly in excel 2007?

Compatibility mode is because excel 2007 has lots of features that previous
versions of excel don't have. If you save a normal XL07 file the older
versions can't read it. So compatibility mode just means that XL07 is
running but you are working in an old spreadsheet version. If you want to
update, open the file in XL07, then do save as and choose .xlsm as the file
type.

Sorry about the confusion, I crunch lots of data into graphs. The command
button is in a workbook, on a sheet, where I list the file names where the
data is located, when I press the command button it opens the files, collects
the data, graphs the data with summaries and places the info on chart sheets.
When the macro is done running I then move the chart sheets to another
workbook and rename it. And go back to the macro workbook with the command
button, put in different file names or cycle #'s to collect more data and
make more graphs.

It has been working fine for the past 6 months in Excel 2007. I have been
making hundreds of graphs, one right after the other without a problem.
Suddenly last week, I can only run the macro once from the command button and
every time I do it reassigns the command button. It reassigns the macro with
the name of the newly created chart workbook everytime. I fix it, save the
workbook and try again and it does it again. I just don't understand. There
has got to be some kind of 'property' maybe that has been changed somehow?
but I cannot find it.

I am having the exact same problem as Betsy. Anyone know the reason
for this or, better yet, the solution?
