Excel 2007: Opens with blank screen

Have seen at least two other people post with a similar problem, but so far
no solutions. If anyone has come across this and found a way to fix it, I'd
love to hear what you did...

Problem:
On occasion (usually the second time I try to use Excel after rebooting),
Excel opens with a blank window. The status bar that should be at the bottom
of the window is at the top. I can open files using "Alt-F", but nothing
appears in the window.

What I've Tried:
-Closing and reopening Excel does not fix the issue.
-Logging out and back in does not fix the issue.
-"Repairing" MS Office 2007 does not fix the issue.
-Starting Excel in "safe mode", per the instructions at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919196 DOES work. The further information
under "Additional Troubleshooting" DOES NOT fix the issue. (ie: I have
nothing in the XLStart directory, I've deleted the registry keys, have no
add-ins installed and have renamed "Excel.qab" with no success.)
-I have disabled or uninstalled most other software that could be
conflicting (logitech quickcam, google desktop, quicktime, pc-cillin,
picassa, messenger, OneNote, OpenOffice.org).
-I have NOT yet attempted to recreate the problem in Windows' Safe Mode...
Will be doing that next.

About My System:
-Opteron 165, 2GB RAM
-Vista x64, Home Premium
-Office 2007 Home and Student

Cheers and thanks in advance for any assistance you might be able to
offer... If there's something I left out of the info above, drop me a line
with any questions.

Ack! Seems there was one program I missed. Thought I'd already tried
disabling Trend Micro PC-Cillin, but I must have had one too many Red
Bulls(r) today... Doing so has now resolved this issue. Can't find a manner
to disable just the office scan feature, so I've still got a problem, but at
least I know what that is now.

D'Oh! Spoke too soon... Disabling Trend Micro seems to have brought this
around, but I started getting the same error again even with TM disabled.
The success rate is *substantially* improved with the program closed, but is
still not 100%. (So maybe I did try it after all, and it's not just my
imagination.)

Have restarted TM again and still have a fairly good success rate at getting
Excel open with no errors... I just don't know any more...
