Excel 2007 to csv

This is driving me crazy! I have 8 fields in Access 2007. I need them to be
in csv format. So I export them to Excel 2007. Then I save as a csv file.

So far, so good. Except for 2 things- One, all of my quotes are doubled. I
have double quotes around some image attributes, and they are made into 4
quotes. This is easy to correct, I just do a find and replace on that field.
Or I could use single quotes to begin with, and would end up with the double
quotes, which is what is needed.

Second, one of the 8 fields has quotes added around it - at the beginning
and the end. They don't show in the Excel csv file, so I can't get rid of
them there. I can see them if I open the file in Notepad, but if I remove
them there, and then re-import back into Excel, the fields end up as a mess.

The field that has the quotes around it start out as a memo field in Access.
That is the only reason I can see for the quotes. How can I make them go
away while preserving my layout?

Just in case this is important - I have my global settings set to use the
pipe as my separator, instead of the comma.

Thanks for any help!

Jill:

I don't know exactly why you have chosen your methodology for creating the
..csv file, however, you may want to try to export directly from Access to a
..csv file. Access export gives you the ability to control what text
delimiter you want to use. In addition, removing Excel from the process may
make things easier for you.

You can right click a table or query in Access and select the Export option
and then the export type. In your case you will want Text File for the
export type. You can then click OK to start the Export Text Wizard and the
Advanced button in the lower left to choose the Text Qualifier for the
export, delimiter, etc. Hopefully this will make your export to .csv
simpler and easier to control.
