Finally got my first look at it today, and the new menu system wasn't as
bad as I had been lead to believe.

Here you will find some add-ins for a classic menu style in 2007 to
mitigate the learning curve:

MS has a free Flash-application for download to show where "old menu
items" are now in the new ribbon (search the MS support site for this,
I assume the link is country specific).
