Excel 2008 crashing when saving

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I just got a new IMAC with the most updated version of office (12.1.4). i worked on an excel spreadsheet, and when i try to save it in .xls format it crashes. when i try to save in .xlsx format it says it wasn't saved. i think it's a serious glitch in the software.

any help?

Would it be possible to send the workbook to me? If so, we can investigate
the problem directly. Failing that, could you click on More Info in the
Microsoft Error Reporting window and copy/paste the entire error log into an
email message and send it to me?

Also, does this only happen with just this one particular file?
