Excel2008 regularly quits on me when I go to edit a particular chart
(but not every time).
Earlier this week, after quitting and re-opening the documents I had
open at the time, it showed my key file as a recovered file, and asked
me to re-save it when I had finished. I foolishly saved it over the
top of the current version. Now, when I try to open this file, it
shows as corrupted. I had applied all recent Office2008 updates
before this happened. I am unable to recover this file via any method
I know. While I have a backup from about 8 days ago, I enter a lot of
data into this file everyday, so its loss is a big productivity drain
on me. I am however more concerned that despite 3 updates to this
suite, there are still basic errors causing crashes, and that even
worse recovered files are not actually saved correctly and so are not
recovered giving false assurances to users.
Any ideas on this? (The file is an .xlsx originally created in Office
2001 which ran much more reliably than 2008 even under Intel/Rosetta
environments!)
