Excel 2008 hangs MBP

Hi

I am finding that opening big spreadsheets (5x17,000 grid) is bringing Excel
2008 to a halt and resulting in my MBP hanging.

I am using Excel 12.1.5 on 10.5.6 and have 4GB RAM. It's just plain
frustrating and a recent Microsoft marketing drive for Office 2008 bragged
about handling bigger spreadsheets than previous and any other app.

Anyone else having this problem?
