I have had probelms with Excel quitting unexpectedly a couple times a day since I got my new IMac in January. I did all the usual things - re-installed software, etc. and finally Mac gave me a new computer. No change.

I am now stuck in never ending crash where Excel Quits, I restart, the problem file comes up as recovered, I try to delete or Save As and Excel quits again. After this I get odd files that show up for example, the most recent is name 2BE9700. It is a microsoft Excel WK files 2004 but with no extension. It is 1.7MB. When I try to open it is says "file format not valid." This particular file is an .xls with macros ( I click open with out macros)

Here is a copy of the error message I get

Donna,

It seems that the whole log didn't come through. Could you please reproduce
the crash again and Command + A in the Microsoft Error Reporting log window
and then copy the whole log and resend? It would help us understand why
Excel is crashing. If you can send me the file that's causing the crash,
that would even be better, although I know that may not be possible
([email protected]).

To prevent the AutoRecover feature from opening the file when you launch,
hold down the Shift key the next time you launch Excel after crashing. That
should prevent the recovered file from opening.

Thanks,

Pat

Hi,

It seems that your excel file is corrupt or something. Maybe you can
try a popular Excel file recovery tool called Advanced Excel Repair to
repair your Excel file. It is a powerful tool to repair corrupt or
damaged Excel files.

Detailed information about Advanced Excel Repair can be found at
http://www.datanumen.com/aer/

And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aer/aer.exe

Hope this will help.
