Excel 2008 very slow when SMB server shares are mounted

I have one user who frequently connects to a couple of server shares via
SMB, and while she is connected, Excel 2008 is bizarrely slow. For example,
if she starts typing in a cell, it may seem delayed and she will have to
wait for it to catch up. This happens even when she has no documents open
via the SMB connection and she's just working on an Excel file on her local
hard drive. As soon as we disconnect from the server drive, the problem
vanishes and Excel behaves normally. Has anyone else experienced this? Does
anyone know what may be causing this?

Yes, and yes. Remove the check fro "show this number of open documents" in
the general preferences. Hopefully a fix will be available soon.

Thanks, Bob. I'll try this.
