Excel 2k Crashes when downloading a template from MS

It goes through the entire process and crashes at the
last moment (Excel has generated errors and must be
restarted). I have uninstalled and reinstalled office.
We can download into all other MS Products.

Any ideas?

I saw this in another posting for a different problem, tried #2, and I could download excel templates without any issues

Hats off to Jan Karel Pieterse for the lead..

Two things to try

1. In Excel
Tools, Options, General, Uncheck "Ignore Other Applications

From the Start menu

Start, Run,

"c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" /unregserve

(use the quotes, check the path
Followed by

Start, Run,

"c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" /regserve
