Is OS9.1 Compatible with Excel 5.0? I cant get it to work . It works fine
with OS8.1.

Is there a non budget busting solution?
Be gentle. I'm an old guy and not a techie.

Excel 5 and OS 9 are not compatible, and AFAIK, there's no fix.

I'd recommend getting a copy of Office (or Excel) 98. You may be
able to find a cheap copy at one of these sources: eBay, a local
college or university, a local Apple dealer (they often know if
someone is either selling their system or is upgrading), a local Mac
User Group, or perhaps even a local school that's replacing its
computers (hopefully with new Macs/MacOffice).

Hi, I have a need for the Microsoft Office for Mac installation disks or CD
that has Excel 5.0 on it. My Excel 5.0 stopped working on my OS 7.5.5
Powerbook and I need to re-install Excel. If you upgrade to Office 98 for
Mac, I would be interested in your older version disks or CD.
I saw Office 98 for Mac on EBay but it went for $75 which is way over my
budget. Good luck finding it at a reasonable price!

It may come down farther this spring after Office 2004 is released.

A quick check of eBay found 4 copies selling at auction for under $30,
though they still had a couple of days to go.

There was even a copy of Office 5 going at $20.
