excel 97 crashes when I send to acrobat

excel 97 crashes when I send it to acrobat ver 4. I send
the active spreadsheet to print and select Acrobat pdf
writer from the printer selection box. the box appears
to confirm the pdf filename and then acrobat stops
working. I'm running windows xp on a compaq laptop w/512
ram. I would appreciate the help.
