When opening files previously saved in Excel 97, now in
Excel 2000, the file will appear to be opening, appear for
a short flash and then return to my desktop (NO DIOLOGUE
BOX OR ERROR MESSAGE APPEARS). If I try to open the same
file again, a dialogue box opens, saying that the file is
already open and asks me to select notification or read-
only.
Things I have tried to solve the problem...
1. Using Excel Add-In "dellinks.exe", I have deleted all
external references and links (there was a lot due to the
way I created this file).
2. All macros have been deleted (including VBA code).
3. All known recursive naming has been removed.
Note: The file is formatted with conditional formatting,
coloring, freeze panes, and printing options.
The workbook contains numerous worksheets ("tabs"), and if
I delete the main tab, which pulls data and calculations
from other tabs, I have NO TROUBLE OPENING IN EXCEL 2000.
Numerous individuals with extensive programming skills and
experience with Excel have yet to solve this problem.
Please help me (us).
