Excel 97 read only

All of my files say read only when I trry to copy them.
When i pull down the protection option from the tools
menu, there is an option to unprotect file. what do i do?

try this:
Highlight the whole worksheet (by clicking on the button left o
"A"-Coloum) then choose tools/protection/unprotect workshee

forgot to mention: if you want to change properties of all files a
once you could try the following.

Open Windows Explorer (by holding buttons "windows"+"E" at the sam
time), hilight all files you want to change properties, right mousclic
on the hilighted area, choose properties an tick out the box "Archive
if active

If you go into My Documents or where ever you have your files saved and
right tick on the file and they left tick on properties you will be able to
remove the check mark in Read Only.
