Excel 97 rows overlap, screen is a mess

When I open a spreadsheet and scroll down, many of the
rows are piled on top of each other. Scrolling back up
just makes it worse. If I scroll back and forth several
times it (sometimes) straightens out, but if I try to type
in a certain cell I can't tell where this cell will end up
in the spreadsheet. What a mess! No viruses detected,
been looking for a software patch or update. Would
appreciate any ideas. Thanks-

I would suspect video drivers. Try turning down the number of resulted
colours, then back off to sVGA or VGA and see if that works. If so update
you driver or video card.
