Excel 97 saves files as single letters in XP

D

Dawn Frinton

For some reason when I save a spreadsheet that I have
called "myfile.xls" in the 'Save As' dialogue box,
Excel97 saves the file as m.xls. It is impossible for me
to save Excel97 files as anything other than single
letters or digits (the letter is always the first letter
of the filename I am attempting to save as). I am
currently using WindowsXP. What's going on?!?
