Excel Addin From Access

Does anyone know if it is possible to access an Excel Addin from an Access
module. What I need to do is access one of the functions in the addin.
Unfortunately the author does not provide this in DLL form.

I am happy to access this via an Excel spreadsheet if required (that is, if
I can access an Excel spreadsheet via Access)

Currently using Access and Excel 2000
