Excel adds quotes when saving as a .txt file

Hi-
When saving an excel file as a tab-delimited file format, it places
quotes around random fields and doubles the quotes around HTML links
(making them useless when uploading onto our website). The only way I
have found to make the quotes go away and the links work again is to
open the file in TextEdit and find and replace all the double double
quotes. Is there any way to prevent EXCEL from adding these quotes or
some way to reverse the double quote problem (apart from doing
manually)?
Thank you!

Hi Camille-

Not tested beyond this point, but perhaps it will point you in the right
direction.

I found that the quotes _do_ appear if the cell contains a value that has a
comma included in the formatting (such as US Currency exceeding 999.99) The
$ and . don't seem to have any effect, but perhaps other punctuation does.
That would also explain the hyperlinks if the URLs contain the common
mixture of stuff.

This certainly isn't a fix, but it may indicate that there is a pattern
rather than the random condition it appeared to be. If so, there should be
an available fix, but it seems to be a bug that shouldn't be happening in
the first place.
