excel and access security

I have read the thread about the permissions error message when trying to run
MSquery in Exel for an Access database, which I get whether or not the
database is secured, but I don't understand the answer. It is not me that
wants to use Excel as I am not that familiar with it, but I have been asked
to give the permissions which I can do for the Access object but I do not how
to allow its use from Excel.
