I have updated all of office, and leopard updates. Istill have
inconsistant problems with excel. It says it will print out of
margins, ever tool bar is greyed out. If i acknowledge the flashing
margin issue, the whole file turns into thousands of pages, looking
like a ppt.
If I email the file to another non leopard mac, the file opens just
fine.
So unable to read, write or print excel.
Any solutions?

Have you checked for an update for your *printer driver*? That sounds like
the source of the problems - and don't forget to repair permissions after
installing the update;-)

I think i found the answer! I had the same symptoms as the OP, but i
could print from Entourage perfectly well, and could do nothing from
Excel. Even print preview showed blank pages.

What had changed on my system was not Leopard, which I do have, but
the fact that my printer was attached to my Airport Extreme base
station, and for that I had to use the Gutenprint driver from the
'bundled software' part of the Leopard install DVD.
Tonight, I plugged the same printer into a regular USB port, and
everything worked!

The problem is limited to Excel for me, among the Office Apps, but I
haven't checked all that out thoroughly. Perhaps Excel has to find an
active printer to do even print preview, and with only the base
station print connection, it couldn't 'see' the printer, and
malfunctioned.

I'm not sure Excel needs to see an active printer,, but it must be able to
see a defined printer. Excel heavily uses the current print driver to render
the print preview image. If no printer is defined or selected it can not do
this.
