Excel and Samba

Anyone tried using Office with Samba?

Word and Excel doesn't seem to save to the file server.

I have this problem, I cannot open Excel documents _directly_ from a
Samba share, and Word cannot write/save to the share. I can do simple
copy-paste using Finder, though. So, there must've been something wrong
with my installation.

Anyone got a tip to avoid this?
