I have a pastoral care and contacts database set up in Excel, and in one
column each contact has a hyperlink to a Word doc file containing that
individual's pastoral record. I can sort and filter the Excel data to my
heart's content. When I click on a hyperlink the relevant file opens
quickly in Word, and I can add to it, edit, and so on. The problem comes
when I go to save it. Word closes instantly when I click on save, or save
as, and the changes to the file are lost. The next time I start Word it
actually offers to recover the document it had open when it shut down.
I have no idea why this should be happening, and the setup is completely
useless for my puposes like this. The programs are part of Office 2002. I
would deeply appreciate any thoughts on this. T very much IA.
