Excel and Word Not Responding in Office Suite

[Frustrated]

Diagnostics check good, uninstalled and reinstalled factory disc with all
components. Both Word and Excel are the only applications not working. They
come up but say "not responding" when trying to use it. What causes this
error? Anyone?
