Excel and Word unexpectedly Quit - because of Suitcase!

I tried to post this earlier and don't think it made it ...

My Excel and Word both unexpectedly quit after the splash screen. I
read in this group several things to try and none worked. Then I read
that it may be due to font management software. I quit out of Extensis
Suitcase and voila ... Excel and Word open fine.

Is there a fix for this? I would hate to have to quit out of suitcase
everytime I need Word or Excel.

Mac OS X version 10.2.8
Word and Excel version 10.1.5
Extensis Suitcase version 11.0.2

I had the same problem with Word. It's been a while, but if I recall
correctly, my fix was to be sure I have loaded in Suitcase those fonts
that your Excel or Word file is looking for. Example: if you have your
Excel worksheet set up to use Geneva, then be sure Geneva is activated
in Suitcase. I do this for a few apps by setting up a "Required"
folder in Suitcase and making sure it's always activated.
