Excel application very slow after loading xla

Hi,

In Excel the startup path is set to a drive on the network
About 20 people are directed to the same dir where the all start the
same .xla

This all worked fine, but the last few weeks Excel slows down a lot.
When I unload the xla the application works fine, when I load the xla
the programma slows down a lot.
The program works fine when i'm the only one who has loaded this xla
When more users have loaded this xla my complete excel application
slows down.

Does someone know where i should search first?
Is it an update office or windows problem?

Maybe being on the network has something do with it. Why not let
everyone install their own local copy of the .xla?
