Excel as data source loses zero in front of zip code field

I formatted the zip code column to be a zip code format,
but when I use this spreadsheet as a data source in Word
2002 mail merge, it loses the "0" in front of the rest of
the zip code.

I researched switches but that did not work and the only
way I could do it was to format the merge field and tell
it to put a "0" in front of the merged text.
