Excel Automatically Opening Old Files

Every time I open Excel, it automatically opens the same five old files which
I have previously worked on. Not the ones from the prior day, but the same
five from some random previous time period. I then have to individually
close down each of the files before I start my current day's work. Any
suggestions?

I have previously worked on. Not the ones from the prior day, but the same
five from some random previous time period.

Check in Tools, Options, general, see if a path is mentioned in "At startup,
open all files in:". If so, clear that entry.
