excel calendars

I've created a two page excel spreadsheet. Tab 1 has all the raw data. Tab
2 has a 31 day calendar template and it is automatically filled in and/or
updated once the data is changed in tab 1.

The only manual work I have to do is put the days of the week at the top of
the calendar.

There is one flaw and I was hoping someone might have a solution.

A traditional calendar always starts with Monday in the top left and works
it's way to Sunday as you move to the right.

My calendar on tab 2 starts with the 1st day of the month and moves on to
the 7th day of the month on row 1. Hence, when I type in the days of the
weeks, Monday is not necessarily in the top left of the calendar.

Because I will be using this template month after month, the only way I
could figure out making it was by having the 1st in the top left and just
entering the days. Is there any suggestions on how I could use a more
traditional template that would work month after month and always start with
Monday in the top left.

I only need 1 calendar template to be used for 12 months, not 12 templates
to be used for each month of the year.

Thank you

A North American traditional calendar moves from Sunday to Saturday with the
first day of the month in whatever day the month starts on.

Your calendar sounds a little non-traditional to me.

It is difficult to have both requirements at the same time.

You want top left cell to always be Monday, but also always be 1st of the month.

What else would you settle for?

Actually, I want it always to be Monday in the top left corner, not the 1st
of the month. The way I have set it up right now is the 1st of the month is
in the top left corner.

Hi

An example:
With any date from desired month in cell A1
C1=DATE(YEAR($A1);MONTH($A1);1)-IF(WEEKDAY(DATE(YEAR($A1);MONTH($A1);1))=1;7
;WEEKDAY(DATE(YEAR($A1);MONTH($A1);1)))+COLUMN()-2
, and copy to right

The formula simplifies considerably, when you'll have 1st of month in some
cell - like:
=$A1-IF(WEEKDAY($A1)=1;7;WEEKDAY($A1))+COLUMN()-2

I haven't got a solution that works....still seeing if there is something I
can find.
