want to save that new file a message occurs like this:

"Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less
data or close other applications."

and excel do not save that file. how can I avoid this and can use
multiple files at same time.

Good Evening

Starguy,

Just a quick thought

Could you just send the data to an Microsoft Access Database
and then Export the copied data that is now in Access to Excel?

What version of Excel are you using?

Thanks,

I cant export data in Access as data has complex formate and data of
different sheets linked with each other.
I use that file on Excel 2003 and XP.

Starguy,

just another thought

can you compress your file, zip it?

I did a search on Microsoft's website and there seems to be alot of
information about the error message you are receiving...

This file is huge and it must take a long time to open and close, save
etc.. etc..
can you trim it down at all?

I use Excel Version 2002 and I have never seen this message

I am surprised nobody else has responded.

Good Luck..

Thanks,

I'm running in to this problem too. I have a spreadsheet, single page, about
18000 rows by only 10 columns. Problem is that I'm trying to run a vlookup
against 2 other Excel files to find some missing data. I've noticed that
just about every other time I update my formulas, formatting, or just save, I
run about a 50% chance of running out of resources even though CPU and memory
are fine, followed by a message telling me it's unable to save external
links. (Even with everything except my IM client closed)

Do you know if there is any way to identify where the calculations quit when
it threw the error so that I wouldn't have to attempt to re-run all 36000
calculations? Or any other resource-saving suggestions on this one?

Thanks!
