Excel Chart Copy-Paste Word Problem

G

Can anyone help me figure this out. Whenever I copy to side-by-sde
charts in Excel, and then paste in Word only the left-most chart
actually appears. I can see the handles around the right-most chart,
but it will not display, show uo in print preview, or print. The result
is the same whether I have the charts grouped in Excel, and no matter
how far or close they are together - in fact they are less than a 1/2
column apart in Excel. I've actually uninstalled and reinstalled Office
2004 to no avail.

Please help!!

You can reinstall another 1,000 times & it won't make any difference :)

This isn't 'technically' accurate but perhaps it illustrates the point: The
charts are two separate objects & trying to copy & Paste them both at the
same time will *not* reduce them to a size that will fit on a page - they
are each retaining their own relative sizes & being pasted into a
'container' that's only big enough to display one.

Copy & Paste each chart separately so they won't be 'joined at the hip',
then use the appropriate wrapping in Word to size & position them as you
wish.

Bob,

I understand your point, except I'm still confused about a couple of
issues: the 2 charts in question are actually quite small, and
side-by-side they would easily fit within the margins of a letter sized
page. In fact, if I make the charts miniscule in Excel, the right-most
chart still does not appear when pasted into Word. Also, this
funtionality works perfectly in Office 2003 for Wiindows.

Honestly, this makes no sense and is VERY frustrating.

I'm not clear from your original posting - have you tried this *without* the
XL charts being Grouped? Grouped will definitely result in what you
describe... In fact the rightmost chart often isn't visible at all. I've
repeatedly tried this - even with the 2 charts on separate sides of the
page break indicator & copying the two at once then pasting to Word results
in separate chart objects.

Also, make sure you aren't using Paste Special>As: Picture. Use MS Office
Drawing Object (although that should be the default). That should result in
two separate chart objects which *do* overlap each other when initially
pasted, but each can be manipulated separately.

If you're still getting a different result there may be more to the issue,
but reinstalling Office probably isn't the solution.
