Excel copy and paste

I am copy and then pasting on Excel. The clip board keeps coming up every
time to ask about the formatting. I want it to stay on "Match Destination
format"
Can anyone help me to work more efficiently?

Hi Cherie -

I'm not sure why you think you have a problem - the default *is* to match
destination formatting Just because the Paste Options Button appears when
you paste doesn't mean you have to *use* it - just ignore it & it
[eventually] will go away.

If you want to have it not appear at all you can go into Excel> Preferences
- Edit, remove the check on Show Paste Options Button.

I have the same problem as Cherie. The default is set to "Keep Source
Formatting" and I cannot find a way to change it to "Match Destination
Formatting"

Some days I copy an paste hundreds of times, so it would save a huge amount
of time if I didn't have to go back and fix the formatting after pasting.

When you paste, a small clipboard icon appears at the lower right corner of
the area you paste to. Click that button & you'll find the option to Match
Destination Formatting. All you have to do is select Match Destination
Formatting (or one of the other options) - there should be no need " ...to
go back and fix the formatting after pasting". But no, you can't change the
paste operation's Default behavior.

However, there is a setting in Excel> Preferences> Edit labeled "Show paste
options button" & if that check has been cleared the clipboard button won't
show up. Also, if you paste more than will fit into your window you may not
see the button as it will be outside your viewing area.

In the former case you can simply restore the check. In the latter you can
scroll to find the button or you can use the Edit> Paste Special - Formulas
command to avoid including the pasted content's formatting. However, the
Paste Special dialog can vary depending on *what* you've copied and *where*
you've copied from. Even so, it should give you appropriate choices as to
how you want to have the pasting handled.
