"Excel could not start the e-mail program"

I had to remove Office 2003 from a XP Pro laptop.
I then installed Office XP (2002) on the same laptop.
Now when the users tries to send an email from Word or
Excel she gets this error in Excel, "Excel could not start
the e-mail program ..." and in Word, "Word could not load
the e-mail enevelope..." I found the article saying if
2003 was installed you might get this error, but I
uninstalled it and now have XP. I need to know what files
are left over that are causing this.
