excel crash during startup loading previous files

excel seems to crash every time I try to start it up. several excel files
I've tried to load immediately flash up, load for a brief second, and then
excel crashes and asks to report a problem. I've tried removing preferences,
reinstalling, removing old install receipts, even transferring my user to a
clean system with no success. I've updated with the most recent version and
still no success. the problem is within my user account, as excel starts fine
in a test user. However with the amount of documents and preferences
installed on this account, it's a bit impractical to build a user from
scratch.

i've tried rebuilding the identity and booting excel holding shift. It
doesn't affect any other office 08 programs.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but starting a program or logging in while
holding Shift is merely a troubleshooting technique, not a fix. It simply
bypasses the problem but the problem remains to be dealt with.

What isn't clear: Have you re-applied the Office updates since
re-installing? If not, that remains to be done... Which is one of many
reasons why reinstalling Office is rarely a corrective procedure.

Have you tried running Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions & shutting
down for a moment before powering up again? [Not a 'Restart']

If that doesn't resolve the problem it's possible that Fonts may be
involved... Launch the OS X app called Font Book & run both the Resolve
Duplicates & the Validate Fonts routines.

It might also be a good idea to fetch the OS X 10.6.2 Combo Update & apply
it over what you've already done. The Combos are far more thorough than what
is supplied by Software Update:

BTW: Posting these extensive error logs is generally a waste of time &
effort. They're rather intelligible to most of us & if anyone capable of
interpreting them believes it would be useful they will request same The
useful portion (that I've left in the quote of your message) is the first
15-20 lines... Anything beyond that requires developer insights which most
of the users here do not have.

Hi all.

I had the same problem and happened after working with my mac with an
additional monitor. I move the "formules bar" to the external monitor. After
working, I closed Excel, and the position was stored.

The next day when I tried to open Excel with only one monitor, Excel crashes.

I connected again an external monitor, launched Excel and everything works!
I moved again the formules bar to the main screen and the problem was solved.

tried many reinstalls, tried the shift tour-de-main, SP1, SP2 updates,
deleting the com.microsoft,... still nothing.

I'm in front of a river without a bridge.

If someone could help, it would be very appreciated.
