Can someone please help this is driving me insane! Every time I try to turn
off error checking in excel prefs as I do not want all the small green arrows
appearing in sheets that have formulae that as yet do not have data in them.
As soon as I click to turn off error checking excel falls over within any
sheet or file

What version of Excel are you using? What OS version are you running?

Have you tried quitting all Office applications, trashing your Office
preferences, and relaunching Excel?

Thanks,

Pat

Thanks,

So you're version of Excel is 12.1.2 (As shown in the Excel/About Excel
box)? Also, can you clarify your steps? Are you saying you go to
Excel/Preferences... Error Checking and disable the "Enable background error
checking" checkbox? These details are very important.

Also, the next time Excel crashes, could you please click "More Information"
in the Microsoft Error Reporting window, copy/paste the entire error report
and send it to me (either directly or via this list)?

Also, I would still try resetting your prefs, just to be sure this isn't
some sort of transient problem.

Thanks,

Pat McMillan

I'm glad you're not encountering the crash anymore. If you do start to see
it again, please grab the error report from Microsoft Error Reporting and
post it to this group or send to me directly.

Thanks,

Pat
