Excel Crashes upon using AutoFilter

I'm using Excel 2002 (from Office XP) on a Win 2K OS and
continually have trouble with Excel crashing when I'm
using the AutoFilter command (10x per day). I'm just
opening a simple text file into Excel (drag & drop from
Win Explorer) and I turn on the AutoFilter, go to select a
pull down from the top row, and it crashes repeatedly.

I didn't have this problem when I had Win 2K and Office 2K
but had this exact same problem when I had the old Win NT
platform with Excel 95.

I use the autofilter constantly and this is extremely
frustrating. Anyone else out there see this???
